Water pump serves not only for transporting but also for boosting water up to the higher intake level. While water-supply system planning, you should pay special attention to the choice of equipment and the water pump as a central element.
Water supplying system of your house or apartment can have insufficient water pressure level. You come home after a hard working day, want to make some dinner or wash dishes, enter the kitchen, run the tap and see a tiny water thread getting on your nerves. The lack of water pressure results in other problems with household appliances that require sufficient water supply for sound performance and long working service. It may concern gas or electric water heater, automatic washer, shower etc. It may happen that new gas water heater fails to turn on at low water pressure.
Before buying a new pump you need to specify the problem:
Domestic water booster pump has small size and is cut in water pipe line. The choice of water pump must be individual according to your household conditions. The most popular water booster pump models are CL15GRS-10 and CL15GRS-15 made by TAIFU, UPA 15-90 and Grundfos.
All domestic water booster pumps have two functional modes:
Water booster pumps differ not only in technical characteristics but also in cooling system of pump body and electromotor. The method depends on the manufacturer and should be taken into account when making a purchase.
Water booster pump can be with “dry rotor” and “wet rotor”, for instance TAIFU and Jemix water pump models are dry rotor pumps. Fan propeller of electromotor sustains cooling of motor body. Pump casing is separated from electromotor. The main drawback of dry rotor pump is small noise but it won’t create a nuisance. Dry rotor pumps are more reliable and efficient which explants its popularity among the customers.
Jemix and TAIFU pumps have bronzed valve and pump casing to support both cold and hot water supplying systems. It makes them universal and meeting hygienic requirements.
On the other hand, Grundfos water booster pump has a construction of “wet rotor” with dispensing water cooling. They guarantee noiseless functioning, although are very particular about pumping water quality. “Wet rotor” pumps require constant preventive maintenance to prevent blocking of the pump and electromotor blades with mechanical impurities and solids.
Pay attention to the size of booster pump before fitting it into the water-supply line and installation place.
Another case is when you have no water at all on your floor, but there is still some on the lower floor. Ordinary water booster pump won’t help here. In this case you need to install self-priming pumping unit. This kind of centrifugal-type pumps can pump the water up at the depth of 8m. Before buying the pumping station, make sure your pipes are free from mechanical impurities and corrosion and the lack of pressure is the reason why you have no water. Booster pump unit is better to buy with hydraulic accumulator, e.g. TGP 125 TAIFU model. This centrifugal pump has flexible connection with hydraulic accumulator and pressure relay control. Water supply is carried out with reserved water in hydraulic accumulator. When the pressure in accumulator falls to the target lowest level, the pressure relay starts the pump to repeat the cycle.
